That's a PC case fan and doesn't plug into the wall. You'll need to get a PC power supply (just a small one is fine) and plug this fan into that.You can buy power supplies from your local computer store, like Frys or Microcenter, or online at NewEgg.com.
Also, I'd recommend getting a larger fan Something in the 150mm range or larger. Larger fans can move more air at lower speeds. This also means they won't be as loud as a smaller fan. Get the ones that have a speed adjuster built into the fan so you can set how fast you want each one to spin.

QUESTION:
12v DC fan Conversion.?
I'm trying to plan out a custom media cabinet for a home theater room I'm building, and i wanted to make sure all my components stay cool, however most of the cooling units seem to be very over priced and being a custom job i wanted to place the cooling units (12v DC PC cooling fans) in optimal locations to cool each component where it is most effected by heat. My plan was to by several PC cooling case fans wire them all together in to one plug for the power strip however knowing there's a difference between AC and DC want to know if there is some way to convert my AC to DC properly so all the fans have correct voltage and current through out the unit, maybe by using a AC to DC converter unit, i guess all in all what i want to know is do i need to add all the fans together ie.) three 12v fans equal 36 volts and that's the amount of current i need to transfer or just a 12v AC to DC converter will work??? please respond asap thanx to all who took the time to read this long a$$ explanation.-

For mains run gear, should you go ahead and still want to run fans, you could seek mains AC rated units around the same size as many DC fans.

QUESTION:
Is a cooling fan for an enclosed HD DVR necessary?
I have a Direct TV HD DVR and I will be putting it inside a wooden hutch to get it out of sight. I have a IR repeater ordered to make this possible. My question is, how necessary is it to have a cooling fan for the hutch compartment? The cabinet I will be using is about 2" wider than the HD DVR (an inch or so on either side) and it has about 10" of clearance above the HD DVR. I realize the receiver gets pretty warm and that's my concern. I went to Radio Shack and for bought small AC powered cooling fan but the noise it makes is pretty noticeable. I need to know if I could get away with not installing a cooling fan and just using vents (1 at the bottom of the cabinet & 1 at the top)... Any knowledgeable advice would be great. Thanx. P.S. I realize the HD DVR's remote also has a UHF function and I don't need the IR repeater for it. I will be putting a compact upscale DVD player/home theater system on the other side of the hutch in a separate compartment. That's why I need it...
I don't know why I include specific details in my questions---nobody can comprehend them anyway... I SAID THERE WILL BE VENTS! Sheesh!
And another thing, I'm not a complete moron... The cooling fan I mentioned would be mounted at the top of the cabinet sucking hot air OUT with a vent for pulling cool air IN at the bottom of the cabinet. A fan inside a closed compartment does nothing, duh.
Just one more thing... My HD DVR does not have a cooling fan internally. In fact, I don't think any satellite receivers do. Don't answer questions unless you know what your talking about - it defeats the purpose of this service.-

Clearance on the sides and top and bottom are one thing. What about openings in the front and back of the hutch?Is the back of the hutch open? Are you going to leave the door in front of the DVR closed all the time?
The reason I ask is that it's more important for the DVR to be able to pull in cool air from the front/sides and vent the warm air out the back. If you're literally going to put the DVR into a mostly sealed box, then it's just going to recycle that warm air back through the DVR - which isn't going to work for cooling purposes. The air inside the cubicle will just warmer and warmer as it cycles over the hot components inside the DVR over and over again. This could cause the DVR to eventually overheat possibly damaging it. Even putting a fan inside such an enclosure isn't going to do any good since all it's going to do is push around the warm air inside.
I have my HD DVR in a hutch as well. In addition to having space around the sides and on top, the front and back of the hutch are open, so that cooler air from the room is pulled into the hutch, while the warmer air pushed out the rear.
You really want to have airflow going from front to back in the hutch. The DVR's fan should provide enough movement by itself.
If you really don't want to see the DVR at all, consider a door that's an open frame with a piece of mostly sheer cloth pulled over it. This way, the cloth blocks the DVR from view, but still allows air flow into the enclosure. Again, make sure the back of the enclosure is completely open, and that there's some space between the back of the hutch and the wall to allow the hot air to escape.

For those of you who are audiophiles I am not a fan of a down firing sub woofer in anything?
Cambridge Soundworks has a very fine radio for the money, effectively a home theatre in a box, but it has a down firing sub woofer. Tell me the rationale or thinking on this? Why not have a rear firing sub? As you know down firing bass rattles the cabinet, requires the unit to sit higher instead of flush so the sound is not muffled. Why build in a limitation to a good unit? The same can be said for down firing stand alone subwoofers. Your opinion would certainly enlighten my understanding.Thanks.

I completely agree that front firing sub-woofers provide significantly better sound when compared to down firing sub-woofers.Many satellite subwoofer combinations or surround sound speaker systems with sub-woofers are generally only using one subwoofer. Sub woofers are being marketed that bass is none directional, that you only need one, and you can place them anywhere. Manufactures are also marketing the idea that all is needed is small satellite type speakers with one subwoofer, because many people don't like the idea of having big speakers which take up allot of space.
It is clear that this is a marketing plan and consumers are buying it hook line and sinker.
First bass is stereo just like all the other frequency's. It is a well known fact bass frequency's are directional, it is only when you get down to frequency's down below 30hz when it becomes a little more difficult to detect the direction. All sub-woofers reproduce frequency's well above that. You wouldn't fire high frequency's to the floor so why would you fire bass frequency's down to the floor. You get some loss in bass energy when this bass energy should be directed and transferred toward the listener. You will get better bass articulation and better bass impact.
This is a well known fact in the hi-end audio industry, but its being promoted in the mid fi market and consumers are eating it up. Its a shame, but its the reality.

Most of the softwares which supports 32 bit O.S also supports 64 bit O.S.
Well, you have such good PC, then you should get 64 bit O.S
Well, you should get Windows Vista Ultilate 64 bit.
I have it from past 1 year, and have no problem any game so far.
Well, you did not specify how much RAM do you have, i assume it to be 4 GB coz all other configuration are high.
Well, if it shows some error of graphic card, then it seems like graphic card driver may b e corrupted. Install the latst graphic drivers, coz it really is essential while playing new games with high graphics.
Well, if you are having overheating problems, then just open the outer cover of your CPU, while playing games.
BTW XP SP2 is old and many new games even does not supports it.
Go for Vista Ultimate coz it has DX10 which enhnces gaming exprience. Well i dont get, why ur PC hangs, it might be software problems. Update your windows, with Windows Update.

Yup, it's a pirated version what do you expect? What you mean is your processor and RAM are 64bit ready, but you don't have to have a 64bit OS to use that stuff. A 64bit OS will allow you to access more that the 4GB of RAM limit of a 32bit OS. No biggie, who needs more than 4GB anyway? As for 32 & 64bit software I also hear there may be some incompatibility issues that MS service packs could fix, but you need a legit copy of Windows.
